Structured in several thematic chapters corresponding to the respective areas of governance, "The State of the Nation and Public Policies," produced annually by the Institute of Public and Social Policies of Iscte since 2019, aims to contribute to the reflection on public policies by promoting informed and open debate on the State's intervention in different areas of governance.
Written by different authors, "The State of the Nation and Public Policies 2022: Recovery in Times of Uncertainty" focuses on the dimensions of Health, Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Social Protection, Employment, Economy, State, Justice, Transport, Housing, Democracy, and Demography.
Each chapter includes two independent texts: a brief diagnosis of the country's general situation in the relevant area, followed by a more detailed analysis of a specific policy. The various indicators mentioned are available on the portal "The State of the Nation in Numbers," developed in partnership between IPPS Iscte and CoLABOR.
Tiago Santos Pereira, Paulo Pedroso and João Vasco Lopes, coordinators and researchers at CoLABOR, are the authors of the chapters Science and Technology, Social Protection and the State, respectively.
