CoLABOR participates in the 9th Annual Meeting of Political Economy with a panel on climate, employment and (un)just transitions

CoLABOR will be present at the 9th Annual Meeting of Political Economy, which will take place in Porto, between January 29 and 31, 2026, under the theme "Fundamental rights, well-being and quality of life".

Within the scope of this Meeting, CoLABOR is organizing the panel “Climate change, climate action policies and employment: vulnerability of professions, inequalities and (un)just transitions”, which will take place on January 31st, between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm, at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto.

The panel is part of the Climatequality, funded by PlanAPP, within the Science4Policy program (2nd edition). Researchers Frederico Cantante, Tânia Almeida, Franco Tomassoni, and Sara Nunes will present results from their ongoing research, contributing to the debate on the vulnerability of the Portuguese economy and different territories to the transition to a low-carbon economy, as well as its impacts on employment and social inequalities.

The 9th Annual Meeting of Political Economy takes place at the Institute of Sociology of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and at the Católica Porto Business School of the Catholic University of Portugal, bringing together scientists and professionals from different disciplinary areas. The Meeting invites reflection on the evolution of fundamental rights and the realization of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights, as well as on the forms of economic, social, cultural and political intervention necessary to effectively promote well-being and quality of life.

This edition of the Meeting also commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, approved in 1976, as a fundamental milestone in the enshrining of rights, freedoms and guarantees, as well as economic, social and cultural rights and duties.

The Annual Meeting of Political Economy, organized by the Portuguese Association of Political Economy, establishes itself as a privileged space for interdisciplinary debate, promoting the articulation between academic research and public debate, and contributing to the strengthening of Political Economy as a plural and critical approach to contemporary challenges.
