Abstract:
The INCA project examines the influence of digital platforms, especially the GAFAM group (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft), on European democracies. These companies have become key influencers in shaping public discourse, organizing work and industrial relations, as well as in political debate.

The project aims to decode how these platforms use lobbying to influence legislative processes and assess their impact on democratic institutions. Furthermore, it explores potential governance models that balance platform expansion, social inclusion, and public participation.

Adopting a transdisciplinary approach, INCA's work plan is divided into work packages (WPs). Each task, integrating theoretical and empirical research, forms a WP and focuses on politics, economics, or culture. The project includes nine main WPs and several other supplementary ones for dissemination, communication, coordination of think tanks, management, and ethics.

CoLABOR leads Work Package 5 (WP5), entitled "Qualitative Field Research: Mapping Industrial Relations in the Platform Economy".

This project will highlight the unique characteristics of labor relations in the platform economy and outline the changes and challenges that the ongoing platformization process imposes on labor relations. At the same time, it will establish codes of conduct and policies to promote more equitable industrial relations.
