Abstract
The FUTOURWORK project aims to transform the future of work in the tourism sector (Accommodation, catering and similar services - Tourism and Hospitality, T&H) through research and the promotion of inclusive social dialogue and an approach to growing concerns related to platform work, job insecurity and worker well-being. This is an initiative that seeks to bring new perspectives to how labor issues are addressed in the sector. Tourism and hospitality is a vital sector of the European economy, employing 13 million people (11.7% of total employment), with a high proportion of women, migrants and young people, and a worrying 1.2 million job vacancies.

Led by the University of Westminster (United Kingdom), FUTOURWORK brings together a consortium of eight partners from six countries, including CoLABOR (Portugal), Lusófona University (Portugal), Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), The American College of Greece (Greece), Dalarna University (Sweden), Zangador Research Institute (Bulgaria), and Equality in Tourism International (United Kingdom).

The project will directly involve workers, employers, and social dialogue actors/organizations through multiple activities, such as surveys, interviews, storytelling initiatives , and multi-stakeholder learning dialogues . Its outputs will include a worker well-being index for benchmarking practices in the sector, a documentary showcasing the stories of T&H workers, and an online observatory/platform that functions as a one-stop shop where workers can learn about their rights and which facilitates ongoing debates among stakeholders . These initiatives will significantly contribute to scientific knowledge, raise public awareness, and promote policy changes aimed at improving working conditions in the tourism sector.

CoLABOR leads Work Package 4: Social Dialogue and Well-being of Workers in Tourism and Hospitality.
