CoLABOR – the Collaborative Laboratory for Work, Employment and Social Protection – presents the first edition of its annual publication entitled “Work, Employment and Social Protection 2024”. This pioneering study offers a comprehensive and integrated analysis of five key areas fundamental to understanding the dynamics of work and social protection in Portugal:
Economic Context
Workforce
Work and Employment
Remuneration
Social Protection
In addition to addressing these areas in detail, the publication includes an analytical synthesis chapter, which highlights the main trends identified, promoting a final reflection that consolidates the diagnosis made.
The analysis explores different themes within each domain, allowing for the characterization of the country's economic, social, and political-institutional landscape. The study highlights both positive trends and structural challenges, distinguishing between short-term phenomena and more structural dynamics. This framework emphasizes facts that can be altered incrementally, as well as those that require broader reforms to promote significant change.
With this publication, CoLABOR reaffirms its commitment to contributing to reflection and debate around work, employment and social protection, providing essential information for public decision-makers, researchers and society in general.
