CoLABOR hosted a meeting of the European INCA project to discuss the impact of big tech companies in Europe

Between April 9th and 11th, CoLABOR organized the meeting of the INCA project consortium in Lisbon – an initiative funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program. The meeting brought together researchers from nine European countries to discuss the effects of large American technology companies – Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple, and Microsoft – on European societies and economies.

The INCA project represents a joint effort to understand the multiple dimensions of the influence of big tech companies in Europe. Among the main themes addressed were the growing dependence on digital services imported from the US, the impact of these companies on the world of work, their lobbying with European institutions, and the public perception of European citizens regarding their power and actions.

After two years of research, the project makes a significant contribution to the debate on the digital transition and the need to strengthen Europe's technological and regulatory autonomy.

CoLABOR's role in organizing this meeting, and as a partner of the consortium, reinforces its commitment to producing critical and interdisciplinary knowledge about contemporary social and economic challenges.
