Contribution of CoLABOR researchers to the national strategy to combat poverty

A group of researchers from CoLABOR participated in the public consultation on the preliminary version of the national strategy to combat poverty, which ended last Monday. This group produced and submitted a document with a set of suggestions to the ConsultaLEX portal, intended as a constructive contribution to improving the strategy.

Among other aspects, the group mentions the need for the strategy to:

  • To integrate a proper reflection on the characteristics and causes of poverty in Portugal and the impacts of policies implemented in recent decades in this area;

  • Distinguish between structural measures and mitigation measures, and explain how they will be coordinated

  • Define goals and performance indicators;

  • Identify the entity responsible for its implementation, how it will operate, and what resources will be allocated to it.

The document submitted by the CoLABOR researchers can be viewed here.
