Work, employment and social protection 2024

This publication aims to portray, contextualize, and relate trends in the areas of work, employment, and social protection, as well as to analyze and problematize public policies. The five thematic areas analyzed are: the economic context; the workforce; work and employment; remuneration; and social protection. Although treated autonomously, these areas are deeply interconnected, and it is through their articulation that the analysis aims to characterize work, employment, and social protection in Portugal. Within each area, various themes are explored which, together, allow for the characterization of the country's economic, social, and political-institutional framework. The analysis reveals both positive and challenging trends, short-term trends and others of a more structural nature, facts susceptible to incremental change and others that call for broader reforms
